The northeast is well known in Brazil for its amazing beaches, rich and diverse culture and great people and cuisine. The coastline is extensive with cliffs, dunes, and coral reefs. Weather is warm year-round, ranging from humid tropical along the coast to semi-arid inland (sertão).

Food to Try: Moqueca, Acarajé, Baião de Dois, Tapioca, bolo de rolo.

Rio de Janeiro
TEst Rio has it all! From the Christ the Redeemer statue keeping watch over the city to the samba beats echoing from Lapa’s arches. Lounge at Copacabana or Ipanema beach and watch the sunset looking at the iconic mountains. Don’t miss the cable car up Sugarloaf Mountain for amazing views. It's worth it paying a visit to a Escola de Samba where you can feel the energy of the carnival beats or going to a roda de samba for fantastic music and atmosphere with people singing and dancing around the musicians. There are great day trips to see nature or turquoise sea beaches from here as well.

São Paulo
Brazil’s massive metropolis! You will find endless gastronomy, art galleries, and a lively nightlife scene for every taste. Wander through Liberdade (the world’s largest Japanese district outside Japan) or have a drink at a rooftop bar overlooking Avenida Paulista. Visit the Museu do Ipiranga for a bit of history, beautiful gardens and architecture or enjoy the lively nightlife life at vila madalena or bela vista (more alternative vibes). Mercado Municipal is the city's biggest food market, but you can also go to one of the many local farmers markets to shop for fruits like brazilians do!

Minas Gerais
Yes, we're recomending the whole state! If you are not too interested on the beach, but rather see some diverse landscapes and small towns, Minas Gerais is a great option that not many foreigners know about. You see colonial beautiful towns such as Ouro Preto and Tiradentes. Hike in Serra da Canastra, a stunning mountain range full of dramatic cliffs and waterfalls or go to Capitolio with clear blue lakes, and beautiful canyons and waterfalls. Minas Gerais is also big on coffee production, so you can visit a Coffee Farm to see the fields and have a tasting. Anywhere you go in Minas Gerais you will also get the bonus of amazing food (land of the famous pao de queijo) and people (this is where Camila’s Grandma was born)!

Regiao dos Lagos (Rio de Janeiro)
Região dos Lagos (Lakes Region) in the state of Rio de Janeiro. It is a beautiful coastal area known for its crystal-clear beaches, lagoon systems, sand dunes, and a more laid-back vibe compared to the city of Rio. You can easily do a road trip and/or boat trips to get to know many of the towns and beaches around here. Arraial do Cabo is the “Brazilian Caribbean” with turquoise waters, white-sand beaches and great spots to dive. Cabo Frio and Buzios are a bit bigger cities with more structure and beautiful beaches too. Also be aware that the water can be quite cold around here. The winds are great for water sports!

PETAR (São Paulo)
PETAR (Parque Estadual Turístico do Alto Ribeira) is a hidden gem located in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. It’s a protected area known for its spectacular caves, waterfalls, and Atlantic Forest. The park is primarily known for its 300 caves, with some among the most beautiful and accessible in Brazil. The tours range from easy walks to more challenging ones. You will also see a great wildlife here from birds to monkeys and wide variety of plants. Rafting and canoeing is also possible if you want more adventures!
