Rachel Collins

Art Therapy Background

Rachel encourages participants to explore their emotions through various artistic mediums, fostering a deeper connection to their inner selves. Her workshops provide a safe and supportive space for individuals to express feelings that are difficult to articulate through words alone.

Photography Enthusiast

She believes that photography allows people to see the world from new perspectives, offering a fresh lens on everyday experiences. By integrating photography into her workshops, she encourages participants to notice beauty in small, unexpected details. Her images serve as both inspiration and conversation starters, helping to unlock creative thinking. Through this visual storytelling, she fosters a deeper sense of mindfulness and presence in the moment.

Holistic Approach

Rachel emphasizes the importance of being fully present during the creative process, allowing her students to connect more deeply with their inner thoughts and emotions. She uses mindfulness techniques to help participants slow down and embrace the moment, fostering a sense of calm and focus. This unique blend of creativity and mindfulness encourages personal growth and self-discovery in a supportive, nurturing atmosphere.

Teaching Philosophy

Creativity is encouraged to unfold naturally, with participants embracing experimentation over perfection. Each workshop offers a distinct and personal journey, allowing individuals to explore their creative potential without boundaries. This approach fosters a sense of achievement and growth as participants discover new facets of their artistic expression.

Travel Tips

Macramé Instructor & Nature Lover

Travel

As you can see Brazil is massive! Many places will require a few hours car ride to reach from the closest airport but it’s worth it! Uber works well in cities. For long-distance, domestic flights are efficient and buses can be pretty good (book with reliable companies like Itapemirim or Cometa).

Money

Cards are widely accepted, but in certain areas it is good to carry some cash (Reais), especially for markets and small towns. Look into a Revolut or Wise card to avoid foreign exchange charges.

Language

Portuguese is the language here! English isn’t spoken everywhere, so basic phrases help - as well as a friendly smile and plenty of hand gestures! Using the Google Translate app can be a real saviour - you can download the Portguguese language for offline use.

Internet

For those coming from Europe, roaming will not work here, so we would recommend using an eSim. This is what we use when we come to Brazil and is as simple as installing an app, selecting the country you want and paying for the data upfront.
We recommend Saily and you can get $5 off with our code USERUS1054 (full disclosure we get $5 off too! )

Health

Tap water isn’t usually drinkable. Use bottled water, wear sunscreen, and bring bug spray.  In certain areas there is a risk of dengue so using repellent is important.

Her cheerful personality instantly puts her workshop participants at ease, making every session feel light and fun. She encourages creativity through positivity, ensuring everyone feels welcome and supported. Her infectious energy helps to foster a joyful atmosphere, leaving participants inspired and eager to continue creating.
